BIO

Carolyn Kourofsky is a 2016 fellow in Playwriting/Screenwriting from the New York Foundation for the Arts.

 

Her full-length play Misdirection recently received a developmental reading through a collaboration of Writers & Books and Geva Theatre. Her short plays Survival of the Season and Shoplifting 101 have appeared as part of Geva Theatre’s Regional Writers Showcase. She created the short play What Happens in Vegas as part of the 2013 Rochester Fringe Festival/Writers & Books 24-Hour Plays event.

 

Her first foray into scriptwriting, a scene for a Vanity Fair/ Veuve Clicquot contest, won her a trip to Hollywood and a case of La Grande Dame champagne. Other screenplay projects are eclectic, ranging from the narration for an animated online game to the Dance Mystery Theatre piece Death by Paso Doblé. Her first feature screenplay, The Devil’s Ride, was named a semi-finalist in the Moondance Film Festival Screenplay Contest. 

 

She is an alumna of St. Lawrence University and received her MFA in Writing from Vermont College.

 

As owner of Doing Good By Writing Well she provides content writing and editing.  She lives in Rochester, NY with her husband Kevin.
